DPAC PRESENTS: The Hip Hop Nutcracker


Saturday, December 12th at 7:00 PM in Durham, NC, get into the Christmas spirit by seeing The Hip Hop Nutcracker with a special appearance by Hip Hop Pioneer MC Kurtis Blow!

The Hip Hop Nutcracker is a contemporary dance spectacle set to Tchaikovsky’s timeless music, is available to stream for DPAC audiences this holiday season. The live capture, filmed as a part of a partnership with PBS, will allow returning and new guests to experience this beloved holiday tradition at home, as theaters across the country remain closed.

A special $50 VIP Package is also available which gives the purchaser access to the virtual performance for a 48-hour window, a merchandise package from the show mailed directly to the purchaser’s home, and the opportunity to receive special content from the creators and performers of the show, including either a “Front Row” History of The Hip Hop Nutcracker or a VIP post-show room with the dancers and cast.

This show is directed and choreographed by Olivier-nominated Jennifer Weber. A unique and joyful event, this evening-length production is performed by a supercharged cast of a dozen all-star dancers, a DJ, a violinist, and MC Kurtis Blow, one of hip hop’s founding fathers, who opens the show with a short set.  The show is produced by the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) with Executive Producer, Eva Price, and co-commissioned by the United Palace of Cultural Arts.
