A couple weekends ago, a friend and I laced up and headed to River Park North to hike the trails at River Park North in Greenville. It was a gorgeous day, and the trail at the park meanders along the river and through the marsh. It’s really peaceful and gorgeous. For the first time ever, I walked all the way to the end and back! BAM! I was pretty proud of myself! Though, I will admit I almost made a stop to spend the afternoon fishing with someone we passed along the way!
River Park North is the perfect place to fish, hike, explore and discover nature…alone or with the whole family! There’s 5 ponds and 2 piers for fishing and fishing boats for rent! There’s a camping area for group camping, 3 primitive campsites and 2 drive-to sites. The hiking trails are sweet! You’ll also find a wildlife observation platform, a fossil pit, picnic shelters with grills and picnic tables, a sand volleyball court and playground. Plus, a cool nature center with a 70-seat theater, 10,000 gallon freshwater aquarium, live turtles and snakes, wildlife dioramas and the “Shells Are Everywhere” exhibit.
River Park North hosts a variety of events, too. Bug Hunts, Swamp Stomps, even Gyotaku…the ancient art form of Japanese fish printing! Coming Tuesday, March 15th, enjoy a 45 minute Moonlight Hayride and then roast marshmallows around the campfire! There are small fees for most activities.
