“Giving” For Thanksgiving

“Giving” For Thanksgiving

We asked for your help and WOW…you came through! V103.3, AGT Carriers, Inc. and TPI Market in New Bern had 25 Thanksgiving Boxes to donate to a non-profit in ENC and we asked you to tell us where to deliver them. The votes rolled in and Grifton Mission Ministries came out on top…followed closely by Joy Soup Kitchen in Greenville.

The Saturday before Thanksgiving, I met our friends with AGT Carriers, Inc. at Grifton Mission Ministries and unloaded the boxes which were then distributed to families in need.

I love so many things about my job, but what I love most is the partnerships we create with others to assist our communities. And ENC certainly knows how to rise up and help our friends and neighbors.

As we jump into December and start counting down the days to Christmas, there are many non-profits in ENC that will need our help. Please do what you can to make Christmas Morning magical!

Adopt a family or senior citizen from Grifton Mission Ministries…or drop off donation of money, toys, clothing, candy, etc. Every little bit helps. Find them on Facebook @elaineetarlton

At JOY Soup Kitchen, the primary focus is to deal with food insecurity by providing food to the poor and homeless in the Greenville community. They are the only place in Greenville that prepares and serves free, nutritious, midday and evening meals to address this essential need. For some people, this may be their only meal of the day. On average, they serve around 35,000 free meals per year. Each meal costs $2, so a little can go a long way. Find out how you can help at https://www.joysoupkitchen.org/donate

RCS is committed to addressing the basic needs of Craven, Jones and Pamlico Counties by providing food, clothing and shelter to those who need it most.  Over the past few years, the demand for services has increased dramatically and RCS relies heavily on friends, local businesses and churches to help support their mission. Volunteers and donations are always needed. Get more info here: https://www.rcsnewbern.com/

Onslow Community Outreach is a helping hand to families and individuals and meets the basic needs of vulnerable populations in Onslow County. The Onslow Christmas Cheer is a vital program for them that helps provide Christmas meals and gifts for those families that struggle to afford these things. It depends entirely on the charity and goodwill of our community with all donations used for families in need. Learn how you can help with toy, money, food donations or volunteer hours here: https://onslowco.org/services/christmas-cheer/

ENC has amazing Salvation Armies in our communities. Drop donations when you see a bell ringer. Adopt an angel from a Salvation Army Angel Tree in your community. Shop their thrift shops which helps fund the SA’s missions. Find a Salvation Army location and info here: https://www.salvationarmycarolinas.org/locations/ P.S. I LOVE Salvation Army thrift shops and have found many awesome affordable treasures there through the years that helped make my son’s Christmas Morning magical!

These are just the non-profits that garnered votes for Thanksgiving Boxes. There are many more in ENC that will need help for the holidays and beyond. And if you can’t give, consider donating your hours. What you will receive in return is truly rewarding.
