So, recreational flounder season opened at 12:01am on September 1st and my husband was CRAZY to fish! It’s a short season for rec fisherman in North Carolina…closing at 11:59pm on September 14th, se he was ready to roll! 1st day out he caught a big fat ZERO! But, he did land a couple nice drums. 2nd day. Big fat ZERO! But a couple of even nicer drums! 3rd day, I had to go!
And, guess who started catching flounder! My husband! He landed 4 shorts and 1 keeper by the time I finally caught my 1st short flounder. He had 2 keepers in the boat by the time I landed my 1st keeper. And then…this happened!
Yup…I put the biggest flounder in the boat! And I was jumping up and down like a kid in a candy shop! 22 inches!
Nope, not the doormat I’ve seen on Chasin Tails Facebook Page…but I did it!
I was the lucky charm on the boat for the 3rd attempt at flounder fishing for my hubby! And I landed the biggest fish. Wish I would have taken that bet! But you can bet, I’m buying a lottery ticket after that fishing trip!
Happy flounder fishing season! Get ’em quick! It’s all over at 11:59pm on the 14th!
P.S. Forgive my ratty look! I got up at 3:30am and was on a boat all day! LOL!
