Here is Brooks’ weekly blog…
Donuts or it is Doughnuts?
However you spell it, donuts are a great thing. I am not one for these “National Days” but when it comes to one about donuts, I am all in.
Now, I don’t eat donuts all the time just simply because I need to keep my amazing Dad Bod. But when I do get a donut, I like to find a local shop. Local shops are the best, they usually have a recipe that has been in the family for 80 years and the donuts melt in your mouth. I am from Cleveland, Ohio and we have a place back home called Jack Frost Donuts. They have been there since my parents were kids. Same small, brick building, on the corner of a main intersection. The lobby is so small, people usually have to wait outside to place their orders. The barkers bake all night, while the donuts get served all day.
While traveling the country, I love finding hometown donut shops. My favorite type of donut is a cake glazed. You also can’t go wrong with a frosted with sprinkles.
Fun donut facts:
- The average American eats 31 doughnuts a year.
- There are more than 25,000 doughnut shops in this country.
- More than 10 billion donuts are made each year in the U.S.
- Canadians consume the most donuts in the world. (Americans consume the third most donuts in the world.)
When is comes to donuts which kind is your favorite and where is the best place to get them?
