Here is Brooks’ weekly blog…
I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. While growing up I never dreamed of living anywhere else, I didn’t really even know that was an option. All of our family was in Ohio, so we never traveling too far to see family. Only went out of state 2-3 times while growing up for short, little vacations. So the idea of living anywhere besides Cleveland never crossed my mind, until I got into radio.
Radio is a business of traveling and opportunity. If you want to be successful in this business you have to travel, meet new people and be ready to move across the country at a moments notice. I graduated radio school and didn’t know what to do. I got a job at a local station just 2 days a week. But there was no room to grow and I knew my next step was leaving. I knew someone working in Greenville, NC and he connected me to his boss. After some back and forth I accepted the job in Greenville. It just kind of happened. I lived there for almost 2 years until I got a call from Roswell, NM.
I spent 2 years in Roswell, just let me say this, it was a long 2 years. Life there was different, I will leave it at that. The one positive from living there was I found the woman I am going to spend the rest of my life with. I am so glad to be done with the sand storms and dry heat. After 2 years, my time was up and I got a job in Cheyenne, Wyo.
Cheyenne was another interesting little town. In a state where there are more cows than people, there isn’t much to do on a daily basis. Aside from the horrible winters, Cheyenne wasn’t too bad. It was nice living so close to Colorado, as there is plenty to do there. I was only there for a year, then I made my way back to ENC to New Bern, NC.
We have been in New Bern for a little over a year, raising our daughter Harlynn. We enjoy living here, it has it’s ups and downs like any place but it’s where we call home.
I don’t just say this because I am living here, I truly mean this, ENC has been my favorite place to live so far. I have adapted to southern living for the most part, love being so close to the beach and just the many other great things ENC has to offer.
Where have you lived? Where was you favorite place?
